July 4th, 2009
Red rose body art show life, birth, procreation, death and rebirth. These tattoos are the embodiment of nature and the elements.
Flower tattoo designs are popular but the red rose beats them all, especially with women. Its almost as popular with men, since the rose has tremendous spiritual significance in the west. The rose design is considered to be a symbol of true love and has been revered in both, secular and religious context.
The rose has many accepted traditional meanings that are applied to the rose body art by association. It has become the ultimate floral symbol on account of its unmatched fragrance and beauty. The red rose can symbolize martyrdom. It’s associated with Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. Several rose tattoos are worn to honor a deceased loved one too. If you want to get a red rose tattoo, it is important to know the meaning behind the rose colors.
A dark red rose stands for unconscious beauty.
The red rose is for courage, respect, romance and love. A red rose bud tattoo symbolizes loveliness and purity.
Blue roses symbolize impossibility.
Coral roses indicate desire.
Black rose designs mean death.
The white rose tattoo design is a symbol of innocence, reverence, youthfulness and purity. White rose bud tattoos also celebrate the girl-child.
The golden or yellow rose tattoo shows achievement or friendship.
Black rose with thorns body art design is also very popular. Tattoo artist say, a red rose with thorns reminds the person that beauty does not surface in the absence of adversity and sacrifice. The rose can be flaunted singly, as trailing vine or as a bouquet.
Rose body art have been popular in the west for decades. This piece of body art shares the most intriguing history and symbolism. The rose tattoo is a traditional choice and more popular than the hibiscus, daisy, lily or even the orchid tattoos. The lotus body art designs are probably the only ones that can be compared to these designs. Tattoo artists around the world have made an effort to promote the flower tattoo art. The rose tattoo is available in many different shapes and sizes. You can add to the flower design with a heart or fairy or even a butterfly. It can also be combined with a dagger, a tiger, a cross or even a Celtic armband. You can get a rose and barbed wire tattoo done on the shoulder or chest. Whatever you choose, its up to you and what your style is.

What do you think of Zodiac tattoos? I’m thinking of getting one.?
July 1st, 2009
I’m thinking of getting a lion tattoo. It is my favorite animal and my zodiac sign is a Leo. My zodiac sign is accurate to the last bit. I have all the Leo characteristics. Anyway, my question is. What do you think of Zodiac tattoos? Do you think it’s a good idea.
I plan finding a design and waiting 6 months to see if i really am going to want it.
Thanks!!
I like the idea. ![]()
Personally, I am on the cusp of Cancer/Leo.
So if I were to get one, I’d get like a mix of both.
Why are kids today into things like piercing themselves, tattoos, heavy metal, gothic style and other things.?
July 1st, 2009
I have seen my frinds and my own brother transform before my veey eyes over the past three years. I on the other hand am different than the majority. I did take up things such as listening to death metal or any kind of metal for that matter, I did not want to get any part of my body pierced or get any tattoos, I never started wearing black cloths all the time and start to paint my finger nails black either, I never want to smoke weed or drink beer, I never joined any activities at my high school, I never started hanging out with people who aren’t really my friends, I never talked about someone behind their back about their apperance, I never stole from my family to buy drugs. So basically having said that to sum that all up I never jumped on the band wagon like everyone else that I know. I refused to change my attitudes about people and things such as movies and going out to parties. Why can’t the kids of today be more mild mannered and respectful to people? Give me your input on this
By the way I’m 18 years old and am a senior in high school. I see people like these on a regular basis.
I feel like an old man in an 18 year old’s body! I think that I probably would have done better if I was born in the 1940s -1960s.
My brother also curses at me on a regular basis. He even runs around with guy who got him into trouble a while back. After even getting him into trouble he still hangs out with him! Ever time I tell my mom him and his friends try to bully me! Keep in mond that these punks are younger than I am! I’m just trying to look out for his best interests and I don’t want him to throw his life away like some people do!
I didn’t take up listening to death metal is what I meant!
I think the youth have a sense that the world is lying to them, but they don’t know about what… and since their parents don’t have a clue and are all brainwashed by the media and the government, and the churches, the kids arent’ getting any real answers, and they don’t even know what the question is! So there is a real turbulence in their insides because they aren’t getting any real answers. School is a joke and they know it. .. they are just rebelling but they don’t even know what against… Give the kids a break and maybe they will find what they are looking for and teach the rest of us the truth…
What are some good ideas for tattoos related to Ani DiFranco?
July 1st, 2009
I want to get a tattoo, probably on my wrist, but possibly somewhere else. I want to get something related to Ani DiFranco, either lyrics or images or song titles.. any ideas?
I love tattoos and I love Ani DiFranco, but getting a tattoo relating to Ani Difranco is a terrible idea. I’m sorry you if you think this is rude, but i assure you I have your best interest in mind. Ani Difranco is a unique sole and she is definitely a great inspiration, and if you listen to her I’m sure you are as well, I think you need to come up with something completely unique, an icon that inspires you. She is a humble person and I’m sure that if you ever met her and told her that you had a tattoo inspired by her on you, she would be a little creeped out.
What do the colors of a nautical star tattoo mean? And where is the best place to have it done?
July 1st, 2009
I have heard that colors have no meaning, but then again, I’ve heard colors have all of the meaning in a nautical star tattoo. I want to know what colors mean what. I also want to know where the best place to get one would be. I was thinking about on my right hand, the flat part between your thumb, pointer finger, and wrist bone, but I don’t really know for sure. Thank you for the help! ^_^
With a tattoo, the entire design holds a meaning that can be interpreted differently from group to group. While the origin and general meaning of the nautical star is debated it is usually accepted that sailors (a stereotypically suspicious bunch) were the first to use the symbol and that it has some connection to the north star. The usual placement was on the forearm and it was used for luck and a safe return. However, in the punk subculture it is worn as part of a sleeve of tattoos or on the elbow and usually has the connotation of "true north" or symbolically of finding one’s individual and unique way in life. Early memberes of the homosexual culture, especially lesbian, would wear it on their wrist. A place that could be covered by a watch or bracelet during the day but shown off at night.
As far as color: the original stars were either red and black (as per the compass rose on most maps) or green and black. Red and black could also mean that a sailor had traveled the Pacific at least three times successfully. (g/b could also represent starboard while r/b represented port). However now: color is your taste. There are general color meanings you can explore and pair together. And it can be a personal preference or meaning or you can look up different color symbolism as per what you want to convey. Here’s a quick chart you can go to and look over if you like: http://www.rrsd.mb.ca/riverscoll/snr1/Student_rsc/Color%20Symbolism%20Chart.htm
Just remember: a tattoo can be placed somewhere just because it suits your preference. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be interpreted as if the composition has meaning. Check before you ink.
