nautical star tattoos…..?

February 13th, 2010

any tattoo ideas that would look totally awesome that include one
im getting it to represent me finding my way and that after everthing ive been through wich was alot i found my way and no matter what happened to me and what will happen in the future i can always find my way

I agree that they have become way to trendy and overdone.. but they are still a traditional tattoo that have a LONG history… not tied to the sea so much anymore but they’ve got so many other historical ties too.
I don’t know what ideas to give you. I’ve got three red/black (and the colors I chose while typical have a much broader historical meaning) nautical stars that span the length of my forearm accompanied by four hollow stars with borders. A banner runs under the cutouts and over parts of the nautical stars and has the names of my family on them (five different names). And a bunch of biker dust to top it off. I love it.

Whatever you do to add to the nautical star(s)… make sure its original drawn and not flash. And PLEASE tell me you’re not doing this because of Tila Tequila!! cause that would suck.

What does a upside down nautical star mean(tattoo)?

February 5th, 2010

I know what an upside down pentagram means, but dose a upside nautical star mean the same thing? Or dose it mean anything different if it tilted? I mean for tattoos… Thank!

NO…it just looks tilted, is all.

What would look good with this nautical star tattoo?

January 20th, 2010

I don’t know what to have with this star, I did have a cross behind it, but I couldn’t think what design to have on the cross…

I’m planning to have the tattoo on my chest… right side, just above the nipple. And im a guy LOL!!

Anyone got any ideas?

What about wings like these: http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn302/Kmozisek/WingedNauticalStar-1.jpg

Or else some brick wall patter (just few dark bricks apart) should look strong and cool, or a chessboard huh ;-)

How can I make a nautical Star tattoo more original?

January 5th, 2010

I have been doing research about Nautical Stars because I want to get it on my arm, but it seams that they have been over used and they have lost meaning. I want to get mine done because I believe that it mean guidance. How can I add some flare to it?

nautical stars are almost by definition unoriginal now a days.. they more associated with bros and skin heads rather than the traditional tattoo style they came from.
the only way to get past the association of bro and still have a nautical star tattoo is to do a whole traditional piece. like full on ship, mermaids, sparrows/swallows, banners, the sea, ect. and have the nautical star(s) as part of it.

Two nautical star tattoos…?

December 22nd, 2009

I’m a girl, and I recently have been thinking about tattoos and piercings. I have my ears and cartilage. I’m getting my bellybutton. What I want for sure is.. two nautical star tattoos on my hips/lower stomach? And also, I’ve been thinking about getting my hips pierced. What do you think?
If all your gonna say is, "getting your hips pierced is stupid," or anything like that, don’t bother. I just wanna know what it would look like? Could I get both?
Ohhhhh, and anyone who could find me a picture of the two nautical star tattoos on hips/lower stomach would be a HUGE help.
And also, whoever has those piercings/tattoos, how bad does it hurt?
Please answer, and thank youuuu :)
<33.
I didn’t just have it,I’ve been had it,thank you. & i haven’t really been able to get many piercings, because I have strict parents. So yeaaahhh,I had to wait til I didn’t need a parent signature? Duh.
I want the bar with the two balls. Idk if that’s the surface or dermal?

I have the nautical stars ( incorporated into a bigger piece) on my wrist and they did not hurt.

Try to google some tattoo parlors and see if you can get a picture of what you want.

im a guy and i wanted to know what do girls think about a nautical star tattoo on a guy?

December 4th, 2009

ok im going to get a nautical star tattoo with wings, its going to represent my goal of becoming a famous guitarist in the future and my ambition/goal of going into the air force. im 16 and i already made up my mind of going to the airforce, so i wanted to know what girls think about this tattoo but also guys?

The whole star+wings idea sounds nice, but why a nautical star? Nauticalness and the airforce don’t really mix, they’re kinda different branches. I assume the star is to represent your "famous guitarist" goal? The whole star=famous thing makes sense, but the only thing I think about when I see a nautical star is the ocean. And nautical stars are so common. Perhaps you should ask the tattoo artist to design a slightly more original looking star. Just a suggestion.

I got a red and black nautical star tattoo about 6 days ago and the red doesnt seem strong on there…?

November 5th, 2009

I got a red and black nautical star tattoo on the back of my arm above my elbow and its starting to heal and i can see the finished product cuz the scabbing is gone and the red doesnt seem strong on there, it looks like a really light red, Do I need a touch up on this tattoo?

It’s healing, that is very normal. Wait about 4-6 weeks for it to heal completely. The ink is about 1/16 of an inch below your skin, and right now, the top layer is repairing itself from the damage caused during the tattoo process. It is old damaged skin, becoming new, weak skin. The skin usually sheds every 30 days, and when you get a tattoo, it disturbs the natural process. It’s very normal for a red tattoo to appear faded or even pink at times. Give it time to heal completely, and if it still looks lie that after about a month, go back and have the artist look at it for you. If it needs touched up, they should do it for free if they stand behind their work. Best wishes!!!

I Want a Nautical Star Tattoo, any location ideas?

October 28th, 2009

Ok, Ive seen these Nautical Star Tattoos alot and theyve always fascinated me, i want to get one for sure, and i was looking at gettin it very low on my stomach on both sides, like maybe green & black, should i go for it, and if so, any ideas/tips.

p.s. this will be my first tattoo

ive always wanted 2 tattoos, one on the inside of my left wrist and the other on my right foot. i also think (on guys) that a tattoo on the upper back (kinda where your shoulder is) is really sexy!!!
