Do you like these tattoos, should I get them, can a 14 year old get one with parents permission?

<< are lower back tattoos trashy?

  Gothic tattoo ideas.....?>>

My mom might let me get a tattoo as part of a christmas present if I can handle the pain. I was thinking to get one on my wrist going up my arm that said Tattoos on the Sky in Gothic lettering (not big though mildly small), one on my right outside area between my ankle and heel which would be a katana, the handle facing upwards a peice of white silk loosely wrapped around the blade with says Ichirin no Hana or single flower in japanese, and the silk would turn into thorny vines around the handle/hilt which would bloom into a lilly. then on my other leg on the area above my ankle (inside one) would have a pretty sun that says "Get to close from the sun, and you’ll only burn" (anyone reconize that quote?) what do you think? Would that special tooth numbing sutff you can pick up at the store numb the skin enough so it wouldn’t hurt, would I beable to get one if my mom signed, how much would they be (the biggest would only be about 3 or 4 inchs big height wise) etc.
I wanted a tattoo for as long as I can remember, and I know what I’m doing… I’m not stupid. and yes I know they will b e permanet. My mom is still a bit optimistic about them, and she was glad when I told her I ofund out you have ot be 18, sometimes she says yes only to get me out of her hair, so I think thats mainly why she said yes. She thinks there are bigger battles to pick… she actually is encouraging me to get a few peircings (nose, lip etc) because knowing me I’ll do it anyways evne if she says no, and she said if I had thicker stronger hair I could dye it as many colors as I want… she doesn’t care if I dres goth as long as its something appropiate for school, she even lets me go to concerts on school nights as long as she or my father are present. She said I can have it done when I’m old enough to get one. And they won’t be as big as I said I wasn’t actually looking at a mesuring tape when i said the height. I can always cover it up with makeup and I wear jeans alot/

Most reputable tattoo artist will not tattoo anyone under 18 even with parental consent.

    The quote never heard it…
But t least you have a cool mom…maybe your 1st tat should be a reminder of how much you love her~~

Those are a lot of questions wrapped up into one. I don’t know how it is where you live, but here in California (if you go to a reputable tattoo shop) you cannot get one even WITH parental consent.

They are not allowed to tattoo on anyone under 18, that said….depending on where you go and how ‘famous’ the artist is, it can be a $80.00 ish to a few hundred if it’s the size you’re talking about.

I don’t think they will allow you to put numbing stuff on the skin because they have to prep the skin to do the work, anything you put on will interfere.

Afterwards, they are real specific as to how you care for it so it won’t fade, scab bad and pull the color off.

From what I heard, it just feels like a warm feeling when you get it done. As if someone is being pinched.

    I do like your ideas.

I want to say this though. Give it a really good think over. Remember this is going to be a part of you for the rest of your life. Once you do this there is no going back.

So give it a think and I would come back when I am 18 or the legal age of your country to get it done.

    Good Luck.

I don’t think tatoos are right for me, although it’s up to you. It will be with you for the rest of your life, and even if you do get laser surgery, it takes SEVERAL sessions to remove. Remember Angelina Joliee? And people often look down on you, you don’t look as professional, and studies show that you are often least likely to get hired for a job. Just something to think about. Because you know your brain (the decision making part) isn’t developed til your mid 20’s. So I would wait….how is it cool?

Tattoos do not come off. They do fade, and they do go out of style. When you are a few years older, you will be in the job market. They can hold you back. Why don’t you have one painted on, wear it in public for a month. if you don’t like it, it will come off. Get a real tattoo, and it cost $7,000 a square inch to have removed. If your friends say" Go ahead and get it," you may find yourself doing the same dead-end job they will have. Want a peek at the future? "You will make every effort to hide them when your full grown." Your mom should be ashamed. Talk to some older people (over 25) who have them.

good luck finding someone to tat a 14 yr old.
Oh and any numbing stuff you use will distort the way your skin takes the ink and you will end up with a blur!

1.) I really don’t think any reputable artists would touch you at your age.(even if its legal in your state, they may turn you down).
2.)There are so many factors that influence price, you should get a quote on the price by the artist that will be doing the tattoo.
3.)There is literally nothing you can take for the pain.Any pain killers will thin your blood and any reputable artist would not touch your skin.
4.)Tattoos hurt! The pain differs depending on the person and the location of the tattoo
5.)What do these tattoos mean to you?Are you sure that you will still like these things in ten years?
6.)Wait till you are older. If when your an adult, you still want one of these then go ahead with the tattoo(s) (I was 20 when I got my first tattoo and I wanted that design since I was 12)

No offense, but those all sound rushed, and not something I would get, but that is just me. Everyone has different taste. Take time and wait to see what you really want on your body for the rest of your life.
And no, no "numbing" is involved.. geez. Youre going to get stabbed over and over with a needle. The price varies from store to store as well.
And seeing as how you want like, 5 or whatever, it isn’t going to be cheap. Also, white.. for you white silk, isn’t gonna happen. White is only used for highlights.

For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT get tattooed. I won’t even discuss if you’re old enough to get tattooed or not (I know the shop I went to will not tattoo anyone who is under 18, even if they do have parental consent). I remember being 14 years old, and trust me, what I thought was cool then I do not think is cool now. Sit down and think about this, really think. Sure, it might seem cool to you now, but do you really want this on your body for the REST of your life? I have one tattoo and I thought about it for two years before I got it tattooed on my body. How will you feel if you are wearing pants all year long because you’re ashamed of your tattoos?

Tattooing hurts, especially if you’re going to get something done along your ankle and heel. I got tattooed above my ankle and it felt like a really bad bee sting for an hour and twenty minutes. My leg tingled a lot too, and right now it’s itching like mad and flaking. They will not let you numb your body before you get tattooed, that is DANGEROUS. If you can’t handle the pain, DO NOT GET TATTOOED. Simple as that.

And for the record, your "sun" quote is spelled wrong (it should be "TOO") and doesn’t make any sense (you get close to the sun you get burned, not close from it…). Imagine getting a spelling error tattooed on your body and having to live with that for the rest of your life, no thank you.

Your mom should be ASHAMED of herself. No one in their right mind would let a 14 year old get tattooed.

With parental permission, you can get a tattoo at any age. I wouldn’t particularly recommend it at 14, because your body is still growing. Your growing body stretches out your skin, so until you’ve finished growing up, there’s a chance the tattoo will get deformed.

I would also recommend that you think very, VERY hard about what kind of tattoo you want to get, where you want to get it, and how it will affect you.

Many employers have limitations on where their employees can have tattoos. Until you’ve tried to get a lot of jobs, you may not realize how bad it sucks to have trouble finding work. Many employers will not allow their employees to have tattoos that can be seen while wearing a uniform. A lot of uniforms, or clothing allowed at work places will leave your arms, and possibly even your legs visible quite often. These may not be the best place to get first tattoos.

Also, some tattoos get put in certain places to mean certain things. Some gangs once tended to have their members get tattoos on their hands, necks, or behind the ear, so some employers think you’re a gang-banger if you have tattoos there. Other people think that only tramps get tattoos on the small of their back, which is worth considering before you get any work done there.

You will also find that whenever people can see your tattoo, they are likely to ask you "What does it mean?" or "would God approve of that? Isn’t that against your religion?" (It doesn’t matter what you actually believe, they’ll still ask you that.) Or "I thought only bad people got tattoos." Have you ever worn a really weird outfit that everyone just had to comment on to you all day long? Imagine not being able to take that off. That’s about how it feels to have a tattoo someplace everyone can see.

Lastly about pain: You probably can’t escape it. It’s not really that painful anyway though, and you can’t actually "remember" the feeling of pain. That is, once it’s over, you can’t recreate the sensation in your mind. Meaty parts of your body tend to hurt less. I might start by just very carefully planning one tattoo. No sense in getting something you’ll regret, and if you need a pair to make them look OK, you may find that going back won’t happen for a long time.

My first tattoo was on the small of my back. I’ll freely admit that it was a dumb design, and I’m very glad that it’s only visible when I want it to be visible… except when someone really spends a lot of time trying to stare at my ass. Some girl asks about my tattoo when I’m wearing pants, and I have to stare at her blankly for a while until I remember that… and except when I go swimming, and everyone starts joking about my "tramp stamp." I kind of have to just laugh it off, and say it was an inside joke my friends and I came up with.

My other two tattoos are on the insides of my calf muscles. That was a really great place for me to get tattoos, because I hardly ever wear shorts, and they’re pretty hard to see unless I want to show them off. One of them doesn’t really "mean" anything, it’s just a design made out of the word fire, and people always want to read all sorts of meaning into it. The other one is Jesus, and it’s pretty good, except some people think he’s way under-dressed.

I’m not sure that tattoos near your ankle are the best idea. They can really limit your options for what kind of shoes, socks, etc. you’ll want to wear to certain events. Also, the ankle is probably the boniest, and most painful place to get a tattoo.

If you must get a tattoo near your foot, consider the top of the foot. Most kinds of shoes can either cover, or expose them, depending on your mood.

Tattoos on your legs tend to be a somewhat better idea. If you want people to think you’re a "good" girl, you just wear a slightly longer skirt or pants to cover them up. If you’re feeling a little more "bad" you just show a little more skin anyway.

tattoos around your shoulder, or on your belly might also be good choices.

As far as the ideas… I’m not a big fan of any kind of lettering. When people can read you like that, they tend to keep asking the same exact questions about the same exact words, as if you’ll change the wording just for them. A picture can be reinterpreted a lot more whenever the need arises. I like the flower/sword idea, but I suspect it will have to be drawn quite a bit larger than you’re hoping. Don’t be surprised if the finished product would take up the whole top of your foot, or even half your leg.

first of all you cannot get a tattoo done when you are 14 years old. what you are asking for would cost a lot of money too… no numbing is used, it is needles stuck in you and its a burning sensation but it feels like someone is drawing on you very hard.

Im not saying dont have them done, but wait until you are 18 and you are sure you definitely want them. i was 17 when i had my first one done and my last one when i was 30. I dont regret any of them cause they are personal to me.

Please… do not have them done yet.

I think it is a bad idea for you to try and get one at your age but with that being said the laws do vary by state and where I live the only way that a minor is able to get a tat is to do a cover-up where they tried to tattoo themselves and a parent/legal guardian has to sign for it to be done and be present during the entire process. If you are dead set on trying to get one I suggest you call a local tat shop and ask about their laws/procedures for your state

I would wait. Like the other person said your design is interesting but what does it mean to a 14 year old? Personally, I wouldn’t want to be permanently reminded of things I thought or did at 14. Wait until you are older and don’t need parental consent. Same as others said, most shops won’t tattoo a 14 even with consent and if they do it makes me wonder about (or lack of) their ethics and/or practices.

For starters most states have laws that will not permit ANYONE from getting tattoos under the age of 16. 16 and 17 need parents signature .

Now let discuss your choices. I would suggest - I am only giving my thoughts here - that you not get a tat that can not be covered in normal clothing until you are set in a career path and the tat will not effect your career. Too many sticks out in the mud, you know. The wrist to elbow one is out there. I did not get my tat in the area between my wrist and elbow until I was 31 - just two months ago actually. I have a set career - I Own my own company that is sucessful and supplies my money, I doubt that I will ever be in the job hunt again.

Now lets discuss your age. I know that you feel at 14 you know what you want for your life. You sound very mature. I was mature at 14 too, but my tastes in so many have changed - dramatically. There a few things that I love the same as when I was 14 - like pizza. My musical, movie genre, even the type of girl I liked has changed - evolved - over the years. I would suggest - again just my thoughts - that you wait until you are 20. If you still want the tats then that you do now then get them.
What does Ichirin no Hana mean to you - not the translation, I speak Japanese so I know what it translates to. Is this something that will mean the same when your 50? Don’t answer these question to me, anyway, answer them to yourself.
